Hello from all of us at i-pix. In the last few years since we have developed at a rapid pace to cope with our customers demands.

We are an open minded friendly professional led fixture manufacture with our heritage and current development firmly in the entertainment lighting industry.

I-pix is the sum of the people that make us tick. We have a strong Research and Development team of a core group of three individuals, ensuring a rapid and efficient execution of product ideas. Backed by our in house production team. We have been able to develop the business from one good product to our range of fixtures we now produce. Our production team have a number of stategic alliances with component manufacturers to ensure we use the latest technology solutions required by a modern lighting manufacturer competing in an increasingly competitive world.

Meet the team

Chris Ewington our head of design founded and designed the led fixtures for the Pixelrange which some five years later are still industry standard products. Chris sold his 50% stake in this brand after driving the development from birth. He has left this brand in a very healthy state.

With over 28 years experience within the entertainment lighting industry, Chris's last seven years have been devoted to developing a range of led fixtures, harnessing the power and performance one would expect from lighting fixtures.

Chris Tolley provides a wealth of lighting experience, coming from the same theatre background, sharing a passion for entertainment lighting along with an electronics and software experience which has enabled us to develop 'lighting friendly' technology.

Russell Wray our mechanical cad engineer knows a thing or too about precision. When it comes to drawing Chris's designs up, he adds his magic in ensuring all production angles have been covered.

Dave Byars has just joined the product development team. He may be new to the team but he and Chris Ewington have worked closely on various projects since Ewington launched the original Pixel range of products into the entertainment market in 2003. [more details here]

LED lightsources

When Chris first decided to concentrate on the led idea, he started developing fixtures using the highest brightness 5 mm through hole leds. 1044 were used to get the power required. That configuration today still plays a big part in many lighting designs around the world. Easily copied within the year, this good product foundation led to further boundaries being pushed with initially the 1 watt luxeon development to the 3 watt luxeon led onto the K2 from lumileds. Five reliable lighting product years later, he is developing our fixtures using the latest generation technology offered by lamina. The customized 30 watt light engine we use as the basis of the emerging BB fixture range allows us to redefine what a modern led fixture should be. Our first offering, the satellite was and continues to be the foundation of our business, being a light good for its size and its easy to use. Thousands exist in the hire market and are in daily use around the world.

Now led fixtures are looking like lights! This is because a 30 watt led sets a new level in terms of colour and performance not currently available from the existing single colour and collimated lighting solution.

Without the creative vision from the lighting design community, in using new technology such as ours we would be nowhere today.

A big thanks goes out to all our users of the satellites. We hope you will enjoy using the new BB 4. Being independently owned we are free from collaborative restraints to develop ideas that people want.

The lighting hire companies already know from past experience how valuable the products developed prior to i-pix have been for them. This kit continues to work 5 years later, with very little maintenance to consider. With this foundation you can be assured that Chris and the team at i-pix are developing the right kind fixtures for the years to come.

Based in Manchester in North West England, 80% of our production ships abroad. Yet our roots are strong within the UK. Our facility is a recycled former Mill!
