Basement Jaxx
LD: Jonathan Armstrong
Lighting designer Leggy (Jonathan Armstrong) had no hesitation about what to pick for truss toners on the recent Basement Jaxx arena tour – he went straight for i-Pix Satellites.
He used 16 of the fixtures, strategically placed on four upstage/downstage ‘claw’ trusses, which also formed an important element of the stage architecture, along with the massive video wall backed set.
He thinks the satellites are excellent, stating enthusiastically, “I am very excited about these fixtures. Truss toning is a simple thing but it also needs to be done cleanly and precisely for the best effect .. and these are just brilliant – really, really bright, and great for washing the metalwork with bold saturated colours with maximum impact”.
He adds that they also proved 100% reliable for the tour, Basement Jaxx’s biggest to date. “I received numerous comments on how good the truss toning looked wherever we went. I will definitely be using Satellites again whenever I can”.
The tour’s lighting kit was supplied by Neg Earth.
