Keane Tour 2006
LD: Rob Sinclair
Lighting designer Rob Sinclair used 12 i-Pix Satellites on the 2006 Keane UK and European tour, promoting their “Under The Iron Sea” album.
It was the first time he’s used Satellites, which were supplied by main lighting contractor Lite Alternative.
He was looking for a very bright, self-contained single cell unit to specifically illuminate the top of the lighting rig. This effectively ‘grew’ out of the stage, with the lights being rigged onto a series of stage-based ribbon lifts, resembling a forest of aluminium poles forming an arch across the top.
The Satellites highlighted the architectural form of the lighting rig, emphasising its role in shaping the stage and performance space. Sinclair says it was important for them to have a neat unit with no external power supplies for this function, making Satellite the perfect choice. The units were attached to the top of the vertical poles.
He says, “They are extremely bright, proved very reliable, and are ideal for a touring environment”
